Premier League: Newcastle 2-1 Everton - Toffees lose chance to reclaim top spot, Callum Wilson net brace for Magpies

Newcastle United clinched their first triumph in three games after stunning Everton by two goals to one inside the St. James' Park in their Premier League match on Sunday.

Callum Wilson, ex Bournemouth striker, opened scoring for the Magpies from the penalty spot in the 56th minute. The Englishman won the penalty after being fouled by Portuguese central midfielder Andre Gomez. Wilson went ahead to net the second for the hosts in the 84th minute.

Everton were in charge for a major part of the game but were unable to clinch the much-needed triumph against their hosts so they can reclaim their number one position on the table.


Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted a late goal, however, it was not sufficient to prevent Carlo Ancelotti's side from falling at Newcastle.

This result have placed the former League toppers Everton three points behind current leaders Liverpool who have sixteen points while Newcastle United have eleven points from seven games.


Thanks to Callum Wilson, Newcastle United clinched their first three points in three games.
