Rohr 'is not good enough, let him go' - Aiyegbeni

Following Nigeria's poor results at the international friendlies and the 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyagbeni has said that Head Coach Gernot Rohr 'is not good enough' and should be relieved of his managerial duties.

The ability of the German Manager to lead the Super Eagles to greater heights has raised doubts recently after Nigeria's below-expectation results during the international break.

Former Everton forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni is of the belief that Rohr and some players should not be part of the national team.

Aiyegbeni, who played for English clubs Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers told Lagos Talks; Rohr is the 'worst coach' in Super Eagles history: “The coach is not good enough, let him go.”

“Some of the boys are not good enough, I don’t know where they are bringing them from. Who is inviting these players?

“Our football is getting worse every day. When I was there, people criticise us, but we’re way better than these ones.

“The coach is not good enough, no clue. Gernot Rohr is one of the worst coaches in our history. He is not good enough.”

Gernot Rohr took charge of the Super Eagles from Sunday Oliseh in 2016. He led Nigeria to the 2018 Fifa World Cup hosted in Russia where they were booted out of the tournament at the Preliminaries.

At Russia 2018, Nigeria was grouped alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia. Rohr's men finished the group with three points, winning just one game against Iceland.
