2022 AFCON Qualifying: Benin 0-1 Nigeria - Paul Onuachu scores late winner for Super Eagles
Belgium First Division A club Genk forward Paul Onuachu came off the bench to give Nigeria a very late winner against Benin Republic in their 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Porto Novo on Saturday evening.

Onuachu replaced Leicester City in-form striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the 71st minute and scored the very important goal in the three additional minutes after fulltime.

According to PMNews, the Eagles had already qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier after Sierra Leone and Lesotho played goalless draw.
The victory ended Benin Republic’s eight years invincibility at home.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen recorded attempts but Benin goalkeeper ensured they never hit the back of the net.
With this win, the Super Eagles will end Group L as winners regardless of the result of their next 2022 AFCON qualifier against Lesotho in Lagos.

Nigeria have amassed 11 points so far and are toppers of Group L while the Squirrels of Benin Republic are second with 7 points.
On the other side, the Lesotho-Sierra Leone 2022 AFCON qualifier ended without a goal.
Sierra Leone are third on Group L with 4 points while Lesotho are the bottom team amassing 3 points.
