After confessing that it was his dream to play for the Los Blancos, France international Paul Pogba has been strongly linked to Real Madrid.
French Manager Zinedine Zidane has done little to play down the links when he claimed he would love to work with his fellow countrymen.
However, The Sun claim United want to open talks over a new contract to try and tie him down at Old Trafford, although they will have to meet his staggering demands if they want to keep him.
The French player wants to earn £500,000 per week just as Alexis Sanchez earns. Sanchez still remains Manchester United's highest earner.
The World Cup winner is currently on closer to £300,000 and it is claimed agent Mino Raiola considers his client to be in a strong negotiating position because of the interest in him.
Man U can't afford losing Pogba alongside midfielders Ander Herrera and Juan Mata out of contract this summer.
Ander Herrera has accepted to join French side Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on a free transfer.
Whatever the outcome may be with the players at the club already, Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to overhaul his squad at the end of the season.
According to ExpressUK, Solskjaer is understood to have set his sights on West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
