Steve McClaren has been sacked by QPR after less than 11 months in charge of the club.
McClaren's departure follows Saturday's 2-1
home defeat to Bolton Wanderers, which left the club 17th in the Sky Bet Championship - eight points above the relegation places.
QPR have confirmed assistant manager John Eustace will take charge of the first-team on an interim basis while the club conducts its search for McClaren's successor.
"Making a decision such as this is never easy, particularly when you are talking about someone as professional and dedicated as Steve," said QPR chief executive Lee Hoos.
"We are grateful to him for all his efforts during his time with us. It is well documented that we are in a period of transition as we work hard to make the club financially stable.
"As we look to the future, and taking recent results into account, we feel now is the right time to re-evaluate where we are."
QPR lost their first four games in the Championship under McClaren but then went on to win eight of their next 13.
However, recent form has seen the west London club win just one of their last 11 games - a 1-0 victory at home to Leeds on February 26.
QPR next face Championship leaders Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday,
