European Solidarity Cup 2021: Inter, Madrid and Bayern launch tournament to raise funds for healthcare workers
Inter, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have launched the 'European Solidarity Cup' in 2021, a tournament to raise funds and show appreciation for healthcare workers.
"The three clubs want to send a message of
solidarity and use the proceeds to support medical infrastructures," read a statement from the Nerazzurri.
"Out of solidarity and to highlight the importance of cohesion in Europe, the three clubs have agreed to stage the 'European Solidarity Cup - Football for heroes'.
"Depending on the match calendar, and also depending on when football can be played in front of spectators again, the three teams will play against each other in 2021 in a round-robin group, with one match played in each city: Milan (Inter vs Bayern), Madrid (Real vs Inter) and Munich (FC Bayern vs Real Madrid)."
Net proceeds from the three matches will be donated to medical facilities in Italy, Spain and Germany as 'a symbol of support for a united Europe in which everyone takes responsibility for each other'.
