Arsenal ready to offload Mesut Ozil

Arsenal are reportedly keen to offload Mesut Ozil this summer, despite the German's intent to see out the final year of his contract.


The 31-year old was not involved in Arsenal's midweek defeat to Manchester City.

Ozil had enjoyed a consistent run in the first team under Mikel Arteta having often been frozen out when Unai Emery was at the helm, but the Gunners are supposedly hoping to ship out the midfielder as they prepare for a financially-restricted summer overhaul.

According to ESPN, Arsenal are keen to cut Ozil's £350,000 weekly salary off of their wage bill amid financial woes arising from the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the report also claims that Ozil is determined to stay and fight for his place in Arteta's starting lineup.

The former Real Madrid man has amassed 44 goals from 254 appearances for the Gunners since arriving at the Emirates in 2013,
