What you need to know about the 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations (Afcon)

The 2022 continental football tournament in Africa - 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations (2022 AFCON) is scheduled to become the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup Of Nations.

It is also called the Africa Cup Of Nations 2021 (AFCON 2021).


The Africa Cup Of Nations is the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).


Cameroon will host the tournament. The event was originally scheduled to take place in June and July 2021.


However, on January 15 2020, CAF announced that due to unfavourable climatic conditions during this period, the tournament would take place between 9 January and 6 February 2021.


On 30 June 2020, CAF, for the third time moved the tournament to January 2022 due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

• Host Venues: 6 (the Paul Biya Stadium and the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in the capital Yaoundé, the Japoma Stadium in Douala, the Limbe Stadium in Limbe, the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam  and the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua)
