Brighton & Hoves Albion Manager Chris Hughton is eager to see Nigeria defender Leon Balogun play for the Super Eagles against Seychelles in their final 2019 AFCON qualifier and Egypt in an international friendly.

30-year old Balogun joined the Seagulls last summer after running out his contract with German club FSV Mainz.

Balogun is still struggling for a regular play-time at the English side and has only featured for the club in the League eight times since the beginning of the season.

The Nigerian International last featured for Brighton in an FA Cup fourth round replay encounter against West Bromwich Albion on February 6.

Hughton told Brighton’s official website on Wednesday: “Leon Balogun, is going away on international duty with Nigeria and we’re hoping he plays both matches.”

Gernot Rohr's men would play their last 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles on Friday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba. The Super Eagles have already secured a spot in the continental football tournament.

On Tuesday next week, Nigeria and Egypt will lock horns in an international friendly at the same venue.
