Zlatan Ibrahimovic said he returned to Milan because he ‘feels at home’ with the Rossoneri but stressed he will work to achieve the targets set for his next chapter at San Siro.
After having returned to Milan in January, the Swede made a great impact on the team and the club did everything they could to successfully renew his deal in the fashion capital.
“I have always felt part of Milan, even when I played with other teams,” Zlatan told Milan TV. “They always treated me well from day one.
“When I first arrived at Milan, I smiled. Something I have never done before in my job. I feel at home and I don’t feel like I have been away.”
Zlatan was expected to pick No9 but had decided to wear No11 and says he wanted to wear the shirt he wore during his first stint with the club.
“I chose No11 because the Milan fans know me with this number,” he added.
“With No21, I didn’t feel like the Ibrahimovic of the first Milan, so I asked for this number to feel like I used to before.
“I came here to bring Milan back to their level, where they deserve to be. I do everything to achieve the goals I set,” the 38-year-old said.
“We have to work and sacrifice, but the last six months we have shown we have what it takes to reach certain goals.
“We must not forget, however, that we have not won anything. In my head, the goal is always to win something. This season we have to win.
“I want to thank the coach and the club for the trust they give me. They did everything to keep me at Milan.
“In the last six months, I have shown that age doesn’t matter. On vacation, I talked a lot with the club and saw my future in Milan.
“I only think about football and helping the team to satisfy the fans.”
