Krause close to Parma takeover

Emblem of Italian Football Club Parma FC

Parma are reportedly on the verge of a takeover by billionaire Americans the Krause family, according to the Financial Times.

The newspaper claims that the club has been valued at more than €100m, with the Krause family controlling up to 60 per cent of the shares.

There had also been a Qatari investor in the running for Parma, but the US group seem to have won out and a deal could be done by the end of this week.

Parma went bankrupt in 2015 and had to begin again from Serie D, earning three consecutive promotions to put them back in the top flight.

The Financial Times notes that The Krause Group reported $2.8bn in revenues in 2019 and already owns minor US club the Des Moines Menace.

This would make Parma the fourth Serie A club with American majority owners after Milan, Roma and Fiorentina. Football-italia
